Jewish life is abundant in holidays, festivals, celebrations and days of remembrance for those who have gone before us. On these occasions we come together as a community to share in the joy and celebration of our Jewish heritage.

For dates and times of TBS holiday services and celebrations, please refer to the Calendar page.

ROSH HASHANAH

The Jewish New Year, a day of sweetness, begins a month long celebration of festivals.

YOM KIPPUR

The Day of Atonement is the most solemn day of the Jewish year and is observed with a day of fasting, reflection and prayers.

SUKKOT

For "Festival of Booths" we celebrate the harvest while we share food, song and celebration under the stars in a Sukkah made by members of the TBS family.

SIMCHAT TORAH

Rejoicing in the Torah! This holiday marks the completion of the annual cycle of weekly Torah reading. We celebrate with a parade around the synagogue and unrolling the entire Torah!

CHANUKAH

The Festival of Lights celebrates the victory of the Maccabees and the rededication of the Jerusalem temple. It also commemorates the miracle of the oil that burned for 8 days.

TU B'SHVAT

An ancient and authentic Jewish "Earth Day". We say special blessings of fruit bearing and flowering trees, plant new trees, and celebrate our connection to the environment and to Israel.

PURIM

We celebrate the bravery of Queen Esther during one of the most joyous Jewish holidays. Our annual Purim Ball includes dancing, games, costume parade, & lots of hamentashen.

PASSOVER

This holiday, remembering the escape of Jews from slavery in Egypt, is rich with tradition and ceremony. The Passover Seder is the cornerstone of this springtime holiday.

YOM HASHOAH

This day, also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day, is the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. On this day, we remember those who suffered, those who fought, and those whose died.

SHAVUOT

This "Feast of the Weeks" celebrates the harvest season in Israel, and commemorates the anniversary of the giving of the Ten Commandments to Moses and the Israelites at Mount Sinai.
