One of the most important traditions of Judaism is a dedication to lifelong learning. At TBS, we support this tradition through a variety of learning opportunities for Jews of all ages. We strive to encourage interesting educational programs that are not only thought provoking, but fun and engaging.

The Community Education Committee develops and coordinates educational programming for adults and youth, creating opportunities for intellectual growth, skill development, and community engagement beyond our religious curriculum.

1:00 – 2:30 pm

The Enemies Project engages in conversations across avariety of topics, all of which take place between two individuals who have vastly different world views on the topic. A “Peacemaker” facilitates their discussion to help the participants develop a true understanding of the other’s perspective as a way to move towards mutual acceptance. The conversations are recorded on the Enemies Project website, and, in March, the Third Sunday CEC event will be to show the conversation between “Two Jews” (between a Zionist and non-Zionist Jew) with an in-person discussion afterward on how we can apply what we learned from the Enemies Project to helping our TBS community be more trauma-informed when we have difficult conversations between individuals with different world views. This event is not intended for children.

Advance Directive workshop, again

(same as last June’s workshop)

The Community Education Committee is hosting Eden Rose Brown (Law Office of Eden Rose Brown) and Rebecca Kueny (Kueny Law LLC) to provide an advance directive clinic where both attorneys will discuss the advance directive and allow time for participants to complete an advance directive at TBS with the ability to ask questions. An advance directive is the form used to appoint a health care representative and provide direction/instruction on how the health care representative should handle medical and treatment decisions if we are unable to make decisions on our own. There are no costs associated with an advance directive.
